Now building on momentum from last spring’s Special Election, Dale is ready to serve as State Representative for Wolfeboro, Ossipee, and Tuftonboro.
Dale Fincher is probably known best in the Granite State as “Uncle Dale” from all his years working at a camp in the Upper Valley that served kids across the state. He attended as camper four years and then worked as a counselor, support staff, and program director for many more.
At age 10, Dale first fell in love with the magic of New Hampshire in the summer of 1984, when his mother brought him and his sister to a faith-based summer camp. His mother had also volunteered at the same camp for several summers in the late 1960s. Camp was a place of healing and growing for Dale after his parents’ divorce. Father-figures mentored him in that can-do, “live free or die” New Hampshire spirit of service and independence he’s carried with him throughout life. Dale returned to camp almost every summer from age 10 till his mid-20s and returning to NH every few summers to volunteer and visit friends serve until until the camp closed in 2016. Though born in Florida, Dale has always considered the Granite State and all his friends here as “home away from home.”
Before he was 30, Dale completed two graduate degrees, lost his mother to cancer, and married his wife, Jonalyn. Jonalyn was a schoolteacher at the time in Southern California. Living a few short years in California as a graduate student and newly married gave Dale a front-row seat to the causes of political decline, including high taxes, urban expansion, overregulation, abuse of the 2nd Amendment, and endless congestion. The quality of life was a far cry from New Hampshire. While moving to New Hampshire would have been ideal, they chose Colorado at that time to be nearer Jonalyn’s extended family.
Building on his experience at camp and teaching college students in grad school, he served several years with an international non-profit educating students, traveling to four continents, and then eventually founding a new non-profit with his wife in 2005, Soulation, headquartered in Colorado. Together they published books, mentored, educated, directed teams, and helped rebuild the lives of individuals and families both on the road and hosting local retreats. Seeing further needs to strengthen families generationally, he co-founded i3, Inc, with a friend in 2010—an investment firm focused on family legacy. He also served a decade on a multimillion-dollar philanthropic foundation supporting museums, education, sports, and camps.
In 2018, it was time to return to Dale’s “home away from home” where so many of their longtime friends still lived. As they tied off their work in Colorado, Dale and his family began to plan their permanent move to New Hampshire to raise their young boys.
Now semi-retired, Dale helped fulfill a family dream in 2024 by captaining their sailboat–with Jonalyn and their two boys–across the Atlantic from South Africa to the Chesapeake Bay.
A team player and natural mediator, he is devoted to keeping a level head, lowering the temperature, working as a team, and advancing common-sense solutions to keep New Hampshire the best place to raise a family and build a future.
